Leopard spotted in Bengaluru’s Banashankari 6th Stage, CCTV captures movement near house

A two-year-old male leopard was reportedly seen early Thursday morning; pugmarks were found outside a resident’s house after a dog’s barking drove the animal away Residents of Banashankari 6th Stage were left worried after a leopard was spotted in the area early Thursday morning. The animal was seen moving near a house, with its presence later confirmed through CCTV footage and pugmarks found outside the property. The leopard was reportedly moving around the house belonging to Keshav, a resident of the area. According to the information shared by the Forest Department, the animal is believed to be a two-year-old male leopard. The animal reportedly moved away from the spot after a dog began barking. Its movement, however, was noticed only after pugmarks were found near the house. Following this, the family checked the CCTV cameras installed around the house. The footage showed the leopard moving near the property, confirming that the animal had indeed entered the residential area. Forest Department officials visited the location on Thursday and inspected the area. According to Keshav, the officials informed him that the leopard was a two-year-old male. Keshav said the area is close to the forest boundary and urged authorities to take preventive measures to stop leopards from entering residential areas. He suggested that a trench be constructed along the forest-side boundary to prevent the animals from moving into the neighbourhood. Keshav said the presence of a leopard so close to homes could become a major problem and create fear among residents if children are around. The CCTV visuals and pugmarks have now become key indicators of the leopard’s movement in Banashankari 6th Stage. Forest officials have already inspected the spot following the sighting.
