No Bullet Injury in Ramanuj's Body: GMCH Superintendent

Guwahati: Ramanuj Goswami , accused in the murder of his wife Riya Talukdar, died from injuries sustained in a fall near Narakasur Hills, Gauhati Medical College and Hospital ( GMCH ) Superintendent Dr Devajit Choudhury said on Monday. The clarification comes amid reports surrounding the circumstances of Goswami’s death while he was in police custody. GMCH Superintendent Dr Devajit Choudhury said police informed the hospital that Goswami had met with a road traffic accident. Dr Choudhury said, “Goswami had no gunshot injuries on his body, ruling out injuries caused by firing. The injuries found on his body were consistent with a fall.” "He was brought dead. We conducted an ECG and other necessary examinations and issued the brought-dead certificate at 3:41 am,” Choudhury said. “Right now, he has been sent to the forensic science medicine morgue for a post-mortem. We will only be able to confirm the exact cause of death after the post-mortem examination.”, Choudhury said. The development comes amid the ongoing investigation into the murder of 25-year-old Riya Talukdar in Guwahati’s Hatigaon area. Goswami had been arrested in connection with the case and was in police custody when the incident occurred.
