SKK stresses timely, consistent medicine supply at HWC Akuluto

Morung Express NewsZunheboto | September 23The All Sümi Students’ Union (SKK), as part of its ongoing educational tour-cum-health centre tour, visited the Health and Wellness Centre (HWC), Akuluto, on September 22 and discussed key issues concerning healthcare services and the public.During the visit, the Union observed the need for infrastructure upgradation and noted that the centre continues to serve the public despite shortages of essential medicines, reportedly due to delays and irregularities in supply. Accordingly, SKK stressed the need for timely and consistent supply of medicines to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services, particularly in rural areas. Members of the All Sümi Students’ Union during their visit to the Health and Wellness Centre, Akuluto, on September 22. (Photo Courtesy: SKK) A serious concern raised during the visit was the reported misuse and resale of medicines by some OPD patients, including the alleged sales to students. SKK noted that such practices could pose risks to students’ health and called for greater awareness, monitoring and appropriate preventive measures.The touring team also visited Government Higher Secondary School, Akuluto, and appreciated the school’s policy against proxy teaching, while highlighting the importance of accountability and quality education.However, SKK noted the need for an Office Assistant (LDA), an Environmental Studies teacher and an urgent boundary wall for the safety and proper functioning of the school.It further expressed appreciation to Kazheto Kinimi, MLA and Advisor, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, for sponsoring the salary of a teacher teaching MIL (Sütsa). Such support towards education and preservation of the Sümi language is highly appreciated, the SKK added.
